A Brief History of JianAn Elementary School

The school was founded on No. 14 Preserved Land on SiWei Road in 1955 with Mr. Liou Zhuo-dung as the first principal. There were 3 classes of students.

6 classrooms were built for 5 classes of students in 1956.

Due to the expansion of the school district, 10 classrooms and a kitchen were added in 1957. There were 22 classes of students.

To meet the abrupt increase of students, 11 classes of first grade students were recruited in 1958. There were 32 classes in total. 

Mr. Deng Zhuo-hua took charge of the school in 10/1959. There were 32 classes of students.
Students of the first to 4 th grades from JianAn Li and RenAi Li were allocated to RenAi Elementary School as a result of the adjustment of school districts, leaving the school with only 16 classes in 1960.

Mr. Liu Zhuo-dung renewed his term as the principal in 9/1962. There were 25 classes of students.
Students from YiAn Li who used to belong to the school district of DaAn Elementary School were allocated to our school district. ChunYing Li was also allocated to our school district. There were 28 classes of students.

The school was renamed as Taipei Municipal JianAn Elementary School due to the reform of the school system in 1968. Mr. Kan Jian took charge as the principal. He tightened the school's disciplines and further developed the school during 1968 – 2/1973. The number of newly built classrooms reached 29. The wooden classrooms, 6 toilets, the library, the science classroom, the conference room, and the hallway were demolished. There were 56 classes of students. A class for mentally challenged students was founded.

Mr. Guo guo-yi took charge as the principal in 2/1973. 30 classrooms were added. There were 61 classes of students. The Evening School for Adults was established.

Ms. Gen Yu-jie took charge as the principal in 8/1979. 54 classrooms were added. A student activity center was constructed. The library was expanded. An experimental arts and craft class and a pre-school were established. There were 72 classes of students.

Mr. Chiu Ming-jer took charge as the principal in 2/1988. He established the kindergarten and launched a campus beautification campaign by planting abundant greenery. A playground was added. There were 104 classes of students.

Mr. Chang Wu-teng took charge as the principal in 8/1992. A remedial center was founded. Playground equipment was added. The playing field was converted to PU runways. There were 106 classes of students.

Ms. Huang Yiou-lan took charge as the principal in 8/1997. The PU runways were finished. Administrative computer network was established. Equipment for PE was added and the campus was further beautified. There were 108 classes of students.

Ms. Zhuo Yin was the acting principal 2/2001. The Nine-year Integrated Curriculum and Integration of Information Technology With Every Subject were both promoted. The school-wide internet system was established.

Ms. Bai Li-mei took charge as the principal in 8/2001. There were 106 classes of students. The school's visions for development were constructed. The Nine-year Integrated Curriculum was formally launched.

The school implemented exchange activities for art education with Shanghai Municipal ShrXi Elementary School and Ying Chang-qi Go School in 2/2002.
